Install on Ubuntu

There is two way to install page on ubuntu the first one is to use a launchpad repository or from sources package found here. The launchpad repository is maintained by a friend. He is an user of page and Ubuntu.

Install page from launchpad repository

Ubuntu offer an easy to add unofficial packages via lauchpad repository, first add page repository with following commands:

$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:johaahn/page

Then update apt data and install page:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install page

That's it, now you may want use page with Mate desktop environment, instruction are here.

Build and install from sources

Then once you get you mate desktop working, you can install page dependency with:

$ sudo apt-get install libx11-dev libx11-xcb-dev libxcb-xfixes0-dev libcairo-dev libxcb-composite0-dev libxcomposite-dev libxdamage-dev \
      libxrandr-dev libpango1.0-dev libxcb-util0-dev libxcb-damage0-dev libxcb-randr0-dev libtool autoconf

Then download page source from Downloads page. Next build and install page as follow:

$ tar -xzf page-1.4.2.tar.gz
$ cd page-1.4.2
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo make install

That's it, now you may want use page with Mate desktop environment, instruction are here.
